One of my favorite times of the year is tulip season! Tourist flock to the flower fields and every year it get’s busier. I was completely booked this year, so make sure you book in time for 2020 if you’re planning on coming! The season runs from the end of march to the beginning of may.

I prefer taking tourist around different fields with bicycles. It takes longer, but it’s a great way to enjoy the scenery. I always know what areas have the most fields in bloom, so I’ll take you around the best route. After going around the flower fields you can visit ‘Keukenhof’. For those of you who don’t know, ‘Keukenhof’ is a huge 32 hectares landscaped garden with over 800 types of tulips. Although Keukenhof is worth a visit, I find the tulip fields better suited for photoshoots.

The last flower field photoshoot of the year was with Neil and Divya. This year the season didn’t last long at all and I had to disappoint many people, because the flowers had already been cut down. Your best bet if you want to see the flowers is coming in April.

This lovely Turkish couple found me on Instagram. I was so excited when they messaged me, because their style is right up my alley. They looked so stylish for their shoot! They just got married, but there wedding party still had to take place back home. They had been to Amsterdam before and loved it so much that they wanted to return and to a pre wedding photoshoot. I took them to all my favorite spots!

Me and Christina actually know each other through instagram. We both love to travel and follow each others adventures. She was planning a trip to Amsterdam, when she saw online that I do photoshoots in Amsterdam. She sent me a message and of course I was so happy to photograph her family! So funny to meet in person after only knowing someone online! We’d hoped for some nice warm weather, but it was still pretty chilly in Amsterdam. Unfortunately her hubby was feeling a little under the weather, but he pulled through to make it a great shoot. In the end he even managed to cycle with Christina on the back of my bike. I love using bikes as a photo prop! It makes for such fun and spontaneous pictures.

Looking for a photographer and the perfect location for a loveshoot in Amsterdam? Look no further. The Hortus Botanicus is a great spot in summer and winter. The greenhouses are always a nice temperature, so you don’t have to worry about the cold. Amsterdam is of course full of pretty spots for a photoshoot, but it’s a great way to get both nature and city shots.

This is actually one of my favorite spots in Amsterdam for photoshoots, because there are so many opportunities for great photos. Both inside and outside are beautiful and within 5 to 10 minutes you can make it back to the classic canals.

Inez and Esmee where an absolute dream couple. They were super cute with each other and I almost didn’t have to give them any directions. Everything on the photos is just real love!

When you think of Amsterdam you think of beautiful canals, cute houses and bridges. I’ll admit that those things are most enjoyed by foot or bike with the sun shining on your face. However, if you know Amsterdam rain is a bit more likely, especially in winter. I completely understand if a photoshoot in the rain is not on your bucket list… But it can be a lot of fun! If you bring a pretty umbrella it can even add to the photos. Just last week we went out for a photoshoot on a cold winter day to shoot some portraits. The lovely Evelien kept her positive attitude in the rain and the photos turned out great!

As you can see, Amsterdam is even pretty in the rain! Don’t let a few drops hold you back from having a great shoot! Pro tip: get see-through umbrella so you don’t lose much of the background!

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to photograph my favorite thing of all… a surprise proposal in Amsterdam! Rob and Sarah were standing on a bridge on one of the canals in Amsterdam, when he got down on one knee and popped the question. While she was in shock and marveled at the ring, the whole crowd on the bridge was in tears. Obviously, she said yes! I don’t know if he hinted at what she should wear, but it even looked like they color coordinated their outfits. Rob had a previous bridge picked out before, but their was a truck standing on that bridge so they ended up here. In the end the engagement was perfect with the Westerkerk in the background and two very happy people that are madly in love and engaged!
